Dear Comrade,

Sub: Bipartite talks on 22 July 2020

Though I did not receive any communication from your office but we understand that a meeting of the Negotiating Committee is slated on 22 July 2020 at Mumbai.

In the wake of recent increase of Covid-19 pandemic in our country, there are suspension withdrawal of public transport including flight operations effective in different Parts of the country.

So far Kolkata is concerned, all flights connecting six cities including Mumbai are suspended till 31st July 2020. There are similar suspension effective in many of the cities. In such situations, many of us may find it difficult to attend meeting at Mumbai on 22nd duly next.

We feel that a lot of time have elapsed since expiry of 10th settlement. A lot of issues like Merger of Special Allowance with Basic Pay: Loading after merger of DA; 5 day banking; improvement of family pension, updation of pension etc. are yet to be settled. The date of expiry of Mediclaim Insurance Scheme for the year is also fast approaching.

Also read: Merger of Dearness Allowance with the Basic Pay w.e.f. April 1, 2004

In the prevailing circumstances, we suggest for holding the meeting scheduled on 22th July 2020 through alternative mode like Video Conferencing. We also suggest for holding virtual meeting of UFBU to arrive at a consensus on the issues prior to the negotiation.

With greetings,

Yours comradely,
(Dabasish Basu Chaudhury)
General Secretary
